I've been here plenty of times and they don't disappoint. My go to spot for soul food.
I like their ribs, whiting fish, smothered pork chops, rib tips, corn bread, mac & cheese (not my Mom's but it's OK), cabbage, yams, hushpuppies, tea.
I've seen some complaints about customer service, but they seemed okay to me and again I've been quite a few times now.
Criticisms:
If they would improve their desserts (e.g., peach cobbler isn't warm & has gummy/rubbery breading), this place would be perfect.
Prices can get a little high (for those who have big appetites like me) but they're comparable with other restaurants in the DMV. -

Piss poor customer service from some of the staff. Just have overall rude mannerisms. I get that when you work with people you become friends but save the friendship stuff for your personal time. They all seem short tempered, asking a simple question is received with attitude and frustration like they wish you never asked in the first place. They don't wear hair nets or gloves which is just suspect as hell. The Mac n cheese is salty and not tasty def will need some spicing up at home. My crab cakes look burnt, I haven't bothered to try them yet. This was my first time and will be my last, I won't be returning to this establishment. My family got food as well, hoping that, that is tastier than the Mac and cheese!

I was craving soul food sooooo bad and I didn't want to drive to my usual spot (Carolina kitchen) and thought I'd give this place a try .. I will never go back. I should have cooked myself!
I ordered the ribs with Mac & cheese and greens with a side of cornbread.
the Mac and cheese was absolutely DISGUSTING!!!! my four year old can make better Mac & cheese using a krafts instant box! The noodles were too big and drowned in the most awful processed section 8 government cheese!! Gross!! how dare they destroy Mac & cheese!!!!! it was sooooo disgusting! I took two bites and couldn't take anymore. it had no flavor, just macaroni noodles and processed cheese
the ribs tasted as if they had been sitting & very tough! the bbq sauce was watery and tasted like sugary ketchup yuck
The greens needed tons of vinegar and seasoning to taste like anything and the cornbread was dry and tasted like regular bread. I was so dissatisfied with my entire meal. at first I thought it would be good considering some of the reviews and the large portions but I wouldn't even feed this to the homeless let alone dogs on the street.
the customer service was horrible. When I called in my order the cashier was laughing with another person and joking for a good 5 minutes before even saying hello. if you want good soul food I recommend Oohs and Aahs or Carolina kitchen. I will never order from here again!!!! -

The food is very very good. I attended a party there about 2 weeks ago with my wife as we were visiting from Tampa FL.

My initial thoughts were that the side dishes cost way too much but when i seen the large blessed portions that i received it is was definitely all worth it!
Best candied yams i've ever had and the collard greens were delicious! If I had a loving suggestion for my money paid at this time it would be that the rice and gravy could use a bit more salt and pepper in preparation.
